PROCESSING DRIED MEAT.—TOP: Trays of dried meat being removed from the machine which, by a heat vacuum process, removes all the moisture from the slabs of meat up to one inch thick. The accelerated freeze drying plant has been installed at the Alliance Freezing Company, Invercargill. The processed meat will keep indefinitely on shelves. When soaked in water it takes on its original form. BOTTOM: Officials of the company watch dried meat being packed into aluminium foil bags, which are heat sealed.
