TO FACE TRIAL FOR ESPIONAGE.—VaIentin Alexandrovich Pripoltsev (left), a 43-year-old Russian engineer, is led into court in Karlsruhe, Germany, at the opening of a hearing before the German Federal Supreme Court. Mr Pripoltsev, a member of the Soviet trade mission in Cologne, is the first Soviet citizen to stand trial on espionage charges in West Germany. After his arrest last August, he was charged with having tried to hire West Germans as agents for the Soviet intelligence.
