Croquet MRS W. L MARTIN AND T. REGAN WIN DOUBLES

Mrs W. L. Martin (Christchurch) won the New Zealand doubles title for the second time, when she and her partner. T. Regan of Wellington, beat Mrs C. Watkins and A. G. F. Ross (Hastings), in the final at the New Zealand croquet championships yesterday. Mrs Martin won her first title in 1959, when she was partnered by F. W, Gurnsey of Christchurch. In the semi-final of the women’s championship, Mrs Martin beat last year’s title holder, Mrs B. A. Jarden (Wellington) after trailing for most of the game. She is now a finalist in both lives of the women’s championship, meeting Mrs R. H. Browne of Dannevirke in one life, and Mrs L. Middlemiss of Pukekohe, in the other.
