YVES ST. LAURENT
Designer May Regain Fame (N.Z.P-A,-Reuter— Copyright) PARIS, January 28. Mr Yves St. Laurent, protege of, and successor to. Christian Dior, will face the second greatest challenge of his 25 years tomorrow. He will seek to regain his eminence in haute couture when he opens his own Faris fashion house in the Rue Spontini in the smart residential district off the Avenue Foch. Mr St. Laurent became famous at 21 as Dior's successor with his "Flying Trapeze” silhouette in 1958. In September. 1960. after several postponements, he was called up for his 27month term of national service in the Army Then he had a nervous breakdown and was succeeded in his old job by Mr Marc Bohan. Some 18 months ago, Mr Marcel Boussac, the owner of Dior’s, refused to reinstate him as chief designer. Mr St. Laurent has a law suit pending against Dior's, claiming pay and “moral injuries.”
