At Randwick on Saturday in finishing second in the January Handicap, Moore allowed Augustine to remain last in a strung-out field, for a good part of the distance Today, Moore rode Augustine with much more keenness. and had the gelding a handy fifth. although on the outside of Palm frandy most of the way. He made bis run a£ter passing the half-mile, where Aueustine was going very easily. Soon after straightening up for home. Moore ran Augustine to the front and won easily by two . and a half lengths, from Arabia. Sir Albert was a long neck away third. When the barrier stalls opened Moore caught his right foot on the edge of the stalls, and the spur was snapped off. but it dir 1 not upset him. . Moore was successful on Codicil, which ran a deadheat with Right Roval in the 1947 Anniversary Handicap Augustine is in the Australian Cup- the long distance race at the autumn carnival at Flemington, but the trainer.
