SECTIONS AT MOTUNAU
Applications For Ballot ■ Open
Applications are now being called for the lease of 11 sections at Motunau Beach, and a ballot will be held for the sections at the next meeting of the controlling authority, the Waipara County Council, >n February 12 Applications will close on February 8. Over the yea.s the council has opened up a total of 125 sections and those now being offereq are the last of the No 3 ballot Some of the sections were not applied for in that ballot aud others have come back on the council’s hands through the successful applicants having failed to fulfil the clause of the leases which stipulates the holders must begin building of residences within 12 months of allocation
The rental for the sections is £l5 for the first year and thereafter £5 annually The council has subdivided all its freehold land at the beach, said the County Clerk •Mr G Seton-Kcllaway). and the sections would be the last available for some considerable time
The council was also the controlling authority of the domain reserves with areas on both sides of the river at the beach, sai Mr SetonKellaway, and an area of three acres and a half was being developed as a children’s playground in the southern section, on the terrace above the river fiat, in the settlement
Because of its comparative remoteness from the settlement there wis no prospect m the immediate future of developing the northern section of the domain tor recreation. said Mr SetonKellaway The domain reserves could not be used for subdivision.
