Man And Woman Convicted

Arrested in Wellington several weeks ago. John Barker, aged 21. a workman, was found in possession of a quantity of new watches. Sergeant G. A. Dallow told Mr M C. Astley, S.M, in the Magistrate's Court at Auckland today. The watches came from Khyber Jewellers. Ltd., in Auckland. Barker told the police He finally admitted breaking into four shops and committing theft and breaking into a warehouse twice with intent to commit a crime between October and December. He pleaded guilty to those charges. Jointly charged with Barker on one of the warehouse breaking charges was Margaret Frances Devlin, aged 23. a housemaid The goods stolen amounted to £1724 10s 4d. and £34 worth of damage had been done, said Sergeant Dallow Property not recovered amounted ‘o £1249 The Magistrate convicted both accused and remanded them in custody until January 30 for sentence.
