SWIMMING World Record To Fukushima

Fukushima, a 19-year-old Japanese, lowered his own world record for 220 yards backstroke by I.7sec at the Olympic Pool tonight.

It was the fourth world record broken by tihe Japanese team during a week in New Zealand. The record was established before 1000 official® and spectators wiho watched the Japanese swim in tthc rain. Fukushima first broke the beckst'roke record when he swam 2:17.8 at the Memorial Pool. Blenheim, last Tuesday. Tonight he rapidly pulled away from both his Japanese partner. K.
