The world has been invited to watch the first United States attempt to rocket a man around the world this week.

More than 565 reporters and photographers, including 77 from 13 foreign countries, have been accredited by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NAS A). In addition there were about 100 additional technicians supporting the coverage, the Assoc ir" id Press reported.

Associated Press said the United States approach was in sharp contrast to that of the Soviet Union which conducted all space activities in secrecy So far as was known no reporters. Russian or otherwise, had ever witnessed a Russian space shot The Russians rarely announced any space activity until after it had been completed successfully. No Iron Curtain countries arc represented, but N A S A said that if any had applied they undoubtedly would have been accredited.
