MEETING AT BURNSIDE

Butchers Stop Work (N.Z Press Association} DUNEDIN, Jan. 18. Although men at New Zealand Refrigerating Company’s Burnside works decided this morning by secret ballot not to adopt a go-slow policy, work halted this after, noon when the butchers began a meeting The meeting, adjourned at 4.30 p.m., will resume at 8 am tomorrow. Mr H. N Davis, manager of the works, said the issue involved was the nonemployment this season of eight men. The matter has already been discussed several times this season and has caused a stoppage at the works. After the morning meeting, he said, he had been given an assurance that normal work would be resumed and there would be no further loss of production caused by the same dispute The departments dependent on the butchers would be able to do no work until they resumed killing
