Organist To Tour N.Z.
An American negro organist, Kenneth Goodman, will tour New Zealand in 1962. His programme has been sponsored by "Challenge,” the religious weekly.
Aged 36, Goodman was bom in Philadelphia and graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He was awarded a fellowship for study under the celebrated French organist and composer, Marcel Dupre, for a year.
He has made four goodwill tours of the Continent and on one European tour raised money for Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s hospital. Dr. Schweitzer himself invited Goodman to Gunsbach and was deeply moved and impressed by his playing. Goodman has just completed an English tour.
