MISS SWEENEY’S SWIM

Start Today Held Unlikely (N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM. January 11. "If this northerly wind in Cook Strait at the moment continues, and the weather report indicates that it will, I doubt whether the swim will take place tomorrow,” Mr Gilbert Perano. pilot for Miss Sweeney, said from Whenui, in Tory Channel early this afternoon. “I would not like to see Margaret swimming with a northerly as the wind would blow In her face and cause her to swallow sea water.” he said. Smooth water was essential. Conditions were usually best after a southerly when three good days resulted. “But we have just had those,” he said. Meanwhile Miss Sweeney proposed to swim in Tory Channel off Te Pangu this afternoon.

"I just dropped off last night like a log.’’ she said. "It was a wonderful sleep and I feel so refreshed after feeling so fiat yesterday."
