WORKERS IN SHORTS

Approval Given By Firms (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 11. Male fashions did a somersault in Auckland today. Long trousers went out in many cases and shorts came in when factories and warehouses that once frowned on bare legs relented. In one big city flrm the change was permitted in a last-minute decision yesterday, and today 100 men turned up in shorts. Sales of shorts are definitely up, shopkeepers said. Shorts this year were in better fabrics and had better styling, they reported. One Auckland newspaper has approved the wearing of shorts by its sub-editors and photographers. Doctors are also making the change. The long, dry summer has been largely responsible for the changed attitude.
