DUNEDIN. January 8. Visiting scouts from the North Island and overseas who had been doubtful about Otago’s summer weather changed their mind* today when they sweltered In temperatures in the high 80s at the New Zealand Boy Scout Jamboree at Wairoa.

Scouts were up early today some of them at dawn, to get as much of the sun as possible. By mid-morning it was too hot to be inside a tent and those scout masters who were tied to their desks sweltered without relief.

There was only the slightest of breezes.
