The M.C.C. vice-captain, M. J. K. Smith, came back into the test reckoning with his second half-century of the match against South Zone at Bangalore today. Smith recaptured all his old form, striking the ball cleanly and batting with complete confidence. His 60 not out in the M.C.C. second innings was scored in 90 minutes. He also snapped up three splendid catches at short leg. The tourists, after gaining a first innings lead of 61, gave the 27,000 crowd good entertainment value in their second innings, scoring two for 153 in two hours 10 minutes before the close. The M.C.C. will enter the Anal day tomorrow with a lead of 214, and the captain, E. R. Dexter will doubtless make an early declaration In a bid to force a win. Scores: M.C.C.
