Apartheid

Sir, —Would Barry Fenton compare, for us, conditions in Africa before and after the arrival of the European? Could he explain the reason why thousands of Africans enter South Africa annually from other parts of the continent if South Africa treat its blacks cruelly? In these times of vicious anti-South African propaganda, churned out all over the world by Communists, coloureds, racial renegades. and woollyminded clergymen, it is easy for the unthinking to overlook the essential facts. Apartheid gives both races the opportunity to progress separately as far as their ability permits. Dr. Verwoerd knows that the more the races are (kept apart, the less inter-racial friction there will be. There is no sensible alternative to apartheid.—Yours, etc., B. B. THOMPSON. January 4, 1962.
