Main Platings To Auckland

Auckland skaters took all the major placing* in the New Zealand dance pairs championship. the main event when the Pacific international roller - skating tournament was continued at Canterbury Court last evening. The winners of the title were M. Kearney and Miss B. Walsh, who gave a very smooth exhibition to beat the title-holders, L. Crawford and Miss M. Crawford. G. Cleal and Miss G. Turner, also of Auckland, were third. The only entrant in the New Zealand marching on skates championship De Luxe Majorettes, of Auckland, gave an extremely accomplished performance in their exhibition march to take the title. Led by Miss P. Splnley, this team snowed very neat form. Hamilton appears to have a good chance of taking the A grade roller-hockey title. This team, which includes four who have represented New Zealand, had a moot convincing 12-1 win over Auckland in yesterday's matches. Manawatu I ha* entered the final of the B grade, and Hutt valley has taken a place in the final of the women’s grade. No International event* were held last evening. The American speed skater. E. Perales, is still indisposed with the throat infection which kept him out of the Pacific International twomil* and one-mil* events on the previous two evenings. The United States figure skating star, W. Madigan, gave an exhibition last evening, which was most enthusiastically received by the large crowd. The crowd demanded that Madigan repeat his performance the first time this honour has been accorded any skater at the present meeting. Abbreviations used in the results are:— W. (Wellington), M.S.
