Mr B. Ballara. secretary of the Christchurch Dante Alighieri Society, will leave Lyttelton on January 3 for the Antarctic in the icebreaker Eastwind. He will be m the Antarctic for six weeks. Mr Ballara. who was a scout master with the North Beach and New Brighton troops, will write articles for the official newspaper of the Italian scouts as well as for newspapers in Rome. Naples and Florence. Company Formed.—Chinese and Albanian Government representatives today signed an agreement to form a Chinese-Albanian joint stock shipping company, the New China News Agency reported.—(Peking, December 27.) Sculptor 'Shot.—A noted Portuguese sculptor. Jose Dias Coelho, aged 38, was shot dead in a Lisbon street a few days ago. it was disclosed in Lisbon today. The circumstances of the shooting have not been explained.—(Lisbon. December 27.)
