385 Killed So Far This Year •Tht Press'- Special Sennet WELLINGTON, Dec. 27 A motorist who was killed when his car struck a bridge in Swanson road, Auckland, late last night was the 385th fatal casualty on the roods this year—a new tragic record of deaths on the country's highways. He was: John Anthony Birch, aged 29, married, with four children, of Range View road. Henderson. ( With four days to go to the end of the year and with seven people still on the seriously ill list in hospital as a result of road accidents in the last few days, the new record could go even higher. The previous record was 384 in 1957. So far there have been 37 road deaths in Decembercoming close to the record of 45 in December, 1954. All the Christmas period accidents, except one. happened late at night.
