EAST-WEST CENTRE

Scholarships To Hawaii New Zealand students holding bachelors’ degrees are eligible to apply for some of the 300 scholarships offered for study at the East-West Centre, University of Hawaii. The scholarships are available to students from Asia, the Pacific area and the United States for a 21-month period beginning in September next year. The East-West Centre was established at the university last year to bring together students, senior scholars and technical trainees from both East and West in the interest of strengthening mutual understanding on both sides of the Pacific. East-West Centre scholarships provide for transport to and from Hawaii, books, incidental fees, housing, food, health insurance, small personal allowance and an academic tour to the United States mainland. The tour to the mainland gives each student an opportunity to enroll for one semester in any American university of his choice, or to do special research in libraries.

Most of the scholarshins are for graduate students, although there are a few available for undergraduates.
