TV ACROSS THE TASMAN
Reception In Invercargill (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 11. An Invercargill radio and television enthusiast. Mr Maurice Wills, of Otatara, last night simultaneously viewed Melbourne television and talked to an Australian radio amateur who was viewing WeUington’s Channel 1. Mr Wills said he believed that Australians would have been able to pick up television last night from all three New Zealand stations, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. As far as he knew, it was the first time New Zealand telecasts had been received in Australia. At least four Southland people, three in Invercargill and one in Otautau. picked up Australian television last night, some programmes continuing until 2 a.m. today. Mr Wills described reception as “quite reasonable.” He said he received Channel 2 stations in Melbourne. Sydney and Hobart during the evening. Tunnel Road Authority.— The Mayor of Lyttelton, Mr J. B. Collett, has been appointed the Lyttelton Borough Council’s representative on the Tunnel Road Authority.
