Technical College Enrolments
A roll of about 900 day pupils is expected at the Christchurch Technical College next year. New enrolments for next year totalled 350, and about 550 pupils would probably return, said the principal (Mr D. W. Lyall) in his report to a meeting of the school board. Enrolments for the school of commerce section, particularly, were higher than last year, and if the increase continued more accommodation would be needed unless the intake was closed, Mr Lyall said. Machine tools, school furniture, woodwork benches, and similar items for the Maori apprentice classes to be established soon would be supplied by the Education Board, and the provision of hand tools and the organisation of the centre would be the responsibility of the Department of Maori Affairs, Mr Lyall said. Mr T. Marsh would be the full-time teacher for the course, and Mr A. Helm would teach part-time, he said.
