Trusted Favoured For Waimate Cup

Trusted and Anama will probably form the favourite bracket for the Waimate Cup, the main race and first leg of the double at the Waimate Trotting Club’s annual meeting tomorrow. Both horses have shown sound form this season and they should master the two miles in this race without difficulty. Trusted is the more favoured of the two. He has been placed in five of his six starts this season and is overdue for a win.

Local Princess has shown sound form at times over two miles. She has finished third in three of her last four starts and with a little luck she would have won before this. The Local Light mare seldom paces a bad race and she looks to be one of the brighter prospects. True Fight has had a third and two fourths in his three starts this season and with. a little luck, he should be hard to beat. In most of his races he has finished strongly over the last half-mile and he should outstay most of his rivals over the final furlong tn this race. Dyson suggested an early win when he made up ground for fourth at New Brighton last week. That was only his second start for the season and he is certain to improve. El Adem, Marquess and Stormy Parade are others expected to race prominently. The Second Waltuna Handicap, a race for maiden pacers, will be the second leg of the double. Seafield Lady, which has finished third in three of her last four starts, will be a firm favourite. Seafield Lady has finished strongly in most of her races after beginning slowly, and she should be too strong in stamina for most in the race Young Mina showed ability last season and if he has come to hand well he could easily upset calculations.

Light Rain paced a useful race at the New Brighton trials earlier jn the week. He showed promise last term and could be bard to beet. Sunheppy, My Share, Thermal and Zeeman may also race well . Fine weather is forecast and the track will be in splendid order. SelecUona>e 11J gun. Metropolitan Handicap: Kyran. Adee, Harbour Light. 11.45 am.—First Wailtuna Handicap: First division— Wee Sheba.
