Company Income Up Last Year

The income of companies increased by £21.3 million in the year ended March 31, 1961. The 1960-61 income was £155.6 million compared with £134.3 million in 1959-60, according to the Government Statistician (Mr J. V. T. Baker). In the three largest industry groups the 1960-61 incomes with the 1959-60 figures in parentheses were:—Manufacturing, £61.2 million (£5O million); wholesale and retail trade, £49.4 million (£44.8 million); income from other commerce, including banks, insurance companies and holding companies, £21.7 million (£18.2 million).
