CRICKET IN DUNEDIN
Albion Still In Lead (NZ. Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 3. Albion maintained its slender lead over Grange in the Dunedin senior cricket competition by scoring an unexpected outright win against Carisbrook on Saturday. Only in the last hour of play did the match turn Albion’s way, with the Carisbrook batsmen, who had scored 181 for three wickets declared in the first innings tn reply to 177. collapsing in the second innings before the spin bowling of L F. Watson. No centuries were scored during the day. The top runscorers were J. Bell (University) 95. J. W. D’Arcy (Carisbrook) 87. E. A. Watson (Albion) 85 not out, and E W. Dempster (University) 76. Match scores were:— Albion 177 and 183 for five declared (Watson 85 not out) beat Carisbrook 181 for three declared (D’Arcy 87) and 112 (L. Watson five for 47) by 67 runs. Old Boys 202 beat Dunedin 77 and 87 (G. M. S. Harford six for 33) by an innings and 38 runs. Grange 174 for nine declared beat North-East Valley 33 and 70 by an innings and 71 runs on the first day of play. Kaikorai 296 and 88 for five declared beat University 221 (Bell 95) and 162 for nine (Dempster 76) on the first innings,
