Emerson (Australia), after a keen match in the second round of the West Australian singles title yesterday. The United States women’s champion. Miss D. R. Hard, successfully played in the championship yesterday in spite of a bad attack of influenza. She received medical attention this morning and her condition was not improved by her matches. But she beat a local player, Mrs D. ’Whiteley, in successive sets of the single quarterfinal and partnered Miss Y. Ramirez (Mexico) for an easy doubles quarter-final win.
