FOR DEEP-SEA DIVING.—An artist’s impression the world’s deepest diving submarine, the Aluminaut, designed to travel at depths of 15,000ft. It is the first submarine to be built of aluminium. The 50ft-long craft is being built for Reynolds International by the General Dynamics Corporation in America. It will be operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute under a research programme sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, United States Navy.
