W. 1 , Birdling) yesterday. ; Mr Birdling was commenting on a suggestion made in ’ the Magistrate’s Court when a taxi driver was charged with permitting a registration plate to be obscured, that buses and ' taxis might refuse to carry ■ prams in future. In, toe taxi ■ driver’s case the registration plate had been obscured by a pram carried on the rear luggage carrier. The position was quite • clear, said Mr Birdling and Section 23 of the Transport Act provided that if the number plate affixed to any ; vehicle was obscured so as not to be easily distinguish- ’ able by day or night it was an offence. “While the section : is in force it is up to local ■ authorities to see it is • observed.
