Members’ Stand At Addington
Sir, —I must condemn the egoism of “Fed Up.” As a woman member of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, I have agitated for many years for the privilege of a male escort to the meetings, and I fail, to see that such a badge used by a male, instead of a female, makes the stand any more crowded I wish to thank the club for ' their discernment— Yours, etc., I. H. STRINGER. November 26, 1961.
Sir, —As an old member of the Metropolitan Trotting Club. I wish to support the letter of “Tired Out,” which appeared on November 21. On Cup Day at Addington hundreds of genuine members were kept off the members’ stand, by those who had been given or purchased tickets. To get a seat or even standing room at most times was practically an impossibility and many members preferred to take a chance of viewing a race from elsewhere on the ground. With a stand packed with twice its carrying capacity I hate to think of what would happen if a fire was to break out.—Yours, etc., OLD MEMBER November 27, 1961.
