Man Fined £l00 For Smuggling

(N.Z. Press Associations WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. “In the witness box, the defendant was certainly not telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth,” said Mr J. A. Wicks. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today, when he convicted Clive William Stewart, aged 25, of smuggling two pairs of binoculars on November 12. A fine of £lOO was imposed A second charge preferred against Stewart, of being in possession of ancuutoened goods, was dtsntiseed. Mr J. D. Murray appeared for the Collector of Customs and Mr J. McLean for Stewart.
