Vence Honours Chagall

<N .Z.P.A.-Reuter) VENCE (South France). Marc Chagall, the Russianborn painter, has been given the title of “Citizen of Honour” by the Municipality of Vence. The 74-year-old artist, who has been living here for the last 10 years, is often called the “Master of Vence’’’ by' the inhabitants of the thirteenth-century town. Not far from Chagall’s residence stands the Rosary chapel, which was designed and decorated in 1950 by the French painter, Henri Matisse, for a Dominican convent.
