TENNIS INCENTIVE FOR WOMEN

Test Match Suggested (N£. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 27. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association will inquire of its representative in New South Wales, Mr E. Stephens, whether it would be possible and worth-while for an annual women's match between New Zealand and Australia to be inaugurated. Mr E. B. D. Lusk raised the issue at this evening’s meeting of the New Zealand association’s management committee. "Some incentive is necessary, and should be given to women in New Zealand tennis. Such a match would give them something to work for,” he said. Mr Lusk envisaged annual competition on the lines of golf’s Tasman Cup between New Zealand and Australia. The chairman. Mr F. S. Ramson, asked: "Would a New Zealand-New South Wales match draw a gate?” "I don't set much in it. because Australia is so much better than we are at present, and it would be far too great a financial hurdle,” said Mr S. Painter.
