“HAPPY IN WORK"
Non-Unionists Dismissed
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, November 27 Ninety workers who resigned from their union three weeks ago because life was always bliss at their factory found themselves out of work last night, reported the “Daily Express.” They all received redundancy notices from the managing director of a chicken processing factory at Thurlstone. Yorkshire, where Ahey worked. The workers, mostly women, shocked officials of the Transport and General Workers’ Union when they sent them a letter saying: “We are so happy in our work we don’t need a union.” A regional secretary of the T.G.W.U., Mr E. Hayhurst, said last night: “We are doing what we can for those who remain loyal to the union. Nearly the whole of the factory is involved.” Eartha Kitt a Mother.— The negro singer, Eartha Kitt, gave birth to a girl today. Her husband, William McDonald, a European, said they were undecided about a name for the child. Mr McDonald, a California real estate agent, and Miss Kitt, were married on June 29 last year. —(Los Angeles, November 26.)
