HEATHCOTE COUNCIL

Eight Members Soon

The Heathcote County Council will be enlarged from six to eight members as from the council elections next October, the council decided on Thursday evening. The council’s town planning and reserves committee had recommended this in a special report The representation of the Cashmere riding will rise from three to four, and of the Hillsborough riding from one to two, with the Heathcote Valley representation remaining at two. A formal motion to this effect will be moved by Cr. C. D. le Comte at the March meeting of the . council. There is a legal requirement that any change should be made at that meeting. “I hope that a nomination for one of the Cashmere councillors may come from the Bowenvale-Whaka area,” said the chairman (Mr R. A. Young).
