UZBEK FARM OFFICIALS
Reprimand By Khrushchev (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) 9 MOSCOW, November 18. Mr Khrushchev said yesterday that “cotton aristocrats” in the southern Soviet Republic of Uzbekistan were "not paying enough attention” to maize-growing and cattle-breeding, according to the Government newspaper “Izvestia.” The newspaper said Mr Khrushchev repeatedly inter? rupted a conference of cotton and agricultural official* in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic, and praised the benefits of maize-growing. As one speaker reported on his region’s cotton output, and added that not enough attention was being paid to increasing meat production, Mr Khrushchev interrupted: “You are cotton aristocrats. This is why you are not paying enough attention to maize. You should set up school* to teach how to flrow it." The speaker continued his speech, but a few sentences later Mr Khrushchev again interrupted: “You are simply cotton aristocrats. It is not bad aristocratism. but you don’t pay enough attention to cattle breeding.”
