Top Mark May Best Open Field At Te Rapa

"The Press'* Special Service AUCKLAND, November 17. The events which will attract most interest on the first day of the Waikato Racing Club's spring meeting at Te Rapa tomorrow will be the Miller Memorial Mile and the Cambridge Handicap, the respective legs of the T.A.B. double, and the weignt-for-age Foxbridge Plate.

Top Mark. Gauntlet and Commodore Roberts might be the hardest to beat of a very open field in the Miller Memorial Mile. Catania and Don Palatine are the popular fancies for the Cambridge Handicap, but one of Fair Merit's peak performances could just as easily g.ve him victory. The Foxbridge Plate lacks an outstanding form candidate but if Lampada, Picaroon, Lord Sasanof and On Demand reproduce their latest efforts it seems almost certain they will battle out the finish. The track is hard and fast after a long dry spelt But the forecast is for a change to rain, which would help to take some of the “fire" out of the going Selections:— 11.20 a.m.—Mltangi Hurdles: Torrid Time.
