UNEMPLOYMENT IN NZ
Warning Sought By Trades Council (NZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 16. The Auckland Trades Council will ask the national executive of the Federation of Labour to advise overseas union organisations of the possibility of general unemployment in New Zealand. The council decided this art its meeting tonight after a long discussion on the nation’s immigration policy Mr T. E. Skinner, the president, said later, that the meeting considered there should be no further assisted immigration until a survey of the needs and requirements ot the country had been made. Delegates from the Crpeatars’ Union had said there was unemptoytseot ta their industry, he said. They were particularly concerned tint the position was beemnipg more actite as Christmas approached. The meeting was unanimous that an application for a general wage order should be made as soon as possible. Mr Skinner said. It decided to urge this course upon tiie national executive of the Federation oL Labour.
