SOUTH LINE REOPENED

Normal Traffic Last Night

The main south railway line, which was closed because of a derailment on Thursday afternoon near Chertsey, was re-opened in the early hours of yesterday morning, the assistant stationmaster at Ashburton (Mr L. Botherway) said yesterday.

A bulldozer cleared the track out and then the line was relaid. There was a speed restriction over the line during yesterday, but a ballast train was working there during the day and the line was back to normal by last night
