Closing dates are approaching for the last surface mails to reach South Pacific destinations by Christmas. Second-class Australian mail closes at 10 am. on December 6, with first-class mails closing the following day at’ 2 p.m. Also closing on December 7 at 10 am., are the final Christmas sec-ond-class mails for Samoa, Tonga, and Nuie. The lettermails for these islands close at 3 am. on December 9. Mails for such territories as New Guinea Papua, the Solomon Islands, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia, and Norfolk Island are not made up in New Zealand, being dispatched through Sydney.
