PLANNING SCHEME

City Zoning Section

AU the formalities of the first section, zoning, of the city district planning scheme had been completed, and the scheme would become operative on April 1, next year, the town planning committee reported to the City Council last evening. Authority had been given for the second section to be commenced, the committee said. To give the Regional Planning Authority time in which to have the master transportation plan sufficiently advanced to give the general roading pattern, the period for receiving suggestions had been extended to six months. While awaiting suggestions, minor roading problems such as streets to be widened or permitted to be narrower than the standard one chain would be investigated. The second section would deal mainly with traffic and was a major job. although nowhere near as big as the zoning section, said Cr. W. P. Glue, chairman of the committee.
