£3O Collected At Works Passing the hat around on Wednesday staff at the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company’s works at Fairfield collected £3O for Heritage (Canterbury). Mr W. M. Kennedy, of Ashburton, told the annual meeting of Heritage. A gift of £5O by a man and his wife who wished to remain anonymous was reported by the secretary (Mr D. W. Bain). Perhaps the “power of the press” attracted a whole family to become life members, Mr W. G. Quirk said. After newspaper articles On the organisation’s annual report, the family sought details of membership. It cost them £42.
