WHIPPET CLUB'S GROUND

Lease Of Reserve To Be Ended

The New Brighton Whippet Club's lease of the reserve near Bower avenue would be cancelled from the end of next March, the City Council decided on Wednesday evening. Last November the reserves committee found the buildings in a very dilapidated condition, and that the surrounds were untidy. The club was then told that unless there were some improvements, the lease would be cancelled. The committee said last evening that a recent inspection showed that nothing had been done to improve the area or the buildings and that the grass was six inches high, giving the reserve a very unkempt appearance.
