SOLOMONS POST

The Rev. J. F. Cropp The Rev. J. F. Cropp. Methodist minister of the Greendale circuit, has been appointed acting-principal of Goldie College in the Western Solomon Islands. The college trains pastors and teachers. Mr Cropp was born in Hokitika and educated at the Hokitika District High School. He trained as a teacher at the Christchurch Teachers’ College and taught in Nelson and Taranaki before studying at Trinity Methodist Theological College. He was ordained in 1959 and has served at Greendale since then. Mrs Cropp was youth director of the Methodist Church before she was married. Goldie College is on a small island off the coast of New Georgia and about five miles from the head mission station. Students at the college qualify for Government teaching certificates or work in positions of leadership within the church. Mr and Mrs Cropp will leave at the end of January.
