Afrika Korps Reunion

(N .Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copy right) LONDON, Nov. 15. Four British Generals have refused to send messages to a memorial reunion for FieldMarshal Erwin Rommel, wartime leader of Germany’s crack Afrika Korps. They are Field - Marshal Lord Montgomery. Fleld-Marahal Lord Harding. General Sir Brian Horrocks, and General Lord Freyberg, V.C., reported The Guardian." The West German newspaper “Die Welt” said Lord Harding and General Horrocks had refused for political reasons Lord Montgomery said he had “to deal with too much corespondvnse ’ ’ an< * G®teral Freyberg had given no reason whatsoever. The reunion was held at Rommel’s birthplace, Heidenheim, on Sunday. Former members of the Afrika Korps, which fought under Rommel in the North African campaign in World War 11, yesterday unveiled a memorial to their leader.
