Ward May Be Fit For Test
(Special Crtpdt N.XP.A.) JOHANNESBURG, Nov. 14 There is every hope that J. T. Ward, first choice as wicketkeeper for the New Zealand cricket team, who chipped a bone in his thumb in the match against Natal which ended in Durban yesterday, would be fit to play in the first test against South Africa beginning at Durban on December 8. Ward's thumb is in plaster and it will remain that way for three weeks. Mr J. G. Leggat. manager of the side, said here today that Ward would have an examination in Cape Town after the team arrived there for the match against Western Province next week.
