Sprinter Transfers
Last year was .one of the most successful for Canterbury sprinters at the senior national athletic championships for some time with D. Mackenzie and A. Steel being second and third in the 220 yards final, while the Canterbury quartet won the four by 440 yards relay. Sprinting fields will be further strengthened by the transfer from Dunedin of C. Maguire, a brother to A. Maguire, who competes in the distance events for Technical During the last season in Dunedin, C, Maguire was credited with beating lOsec for th* 100 yards six times, with his best time being 9.7 sec. Maguire is coming to Christchurch to do his post-graduate training year at the Teachers’ College, but he may compete in Christchurch before his course begins.
