Auckland Increase (HZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 12. An increase in medical fees has been approved by the Auckland and North Shore division of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association. In a joint statement, Drs. E. H. Roche and A. A. Coombes, presidents of the respective divisions, say that the increase has become necessary as expense of medical practice has greatly increased while the Social Security benefit has remained the same for 20 years. The average fees for general practitioner services over and above the Spcial Security benefit wjll now be:—for a surgery consultation’, 7s 6d: for a visit, 10s; for a call at night, at week-ends or on public holidays, 12s 6d. As in the past, doctors may charge a greater or lesser sum according to circumstances, says the statement
