Remembrance Day

Yesterday was Remembrance Day and churches throughout the country held special services to commemorate New Zealand war dead. At Wellington the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) joined the Mayor of Wellington (Mr F X. Kitts) and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) in a wreath-lay-ing ceremony at the Citizens' War Memorial soys a Press Association message The ceremony was attended by many Commonwealth high commissioners and members of other emHundreds of returned servicemen paraded through Auckland streets. After the parade, memorial services were held in the Anglican cathedral and St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral The churches were packed.
