Sharp Decline At Auckland

Values for a full catalogue of dry sheepskins suffered a sharp general decline, with 23 price falls out of 24 classes offered at the fortnightly Auckland hide and skin auction yesterday. The onlv increase in price was recorded by sound shearling skins which gained jd to sell at a top price of 23R1 per lb. Half the number of price drops were over 2d, and second pelts dipped 3fd to 15d. Hide prices, which were irresuter at the last gale, showed a firmer tendency today. with nine rises and only one fall. Fhrmeis hides were definitely firmer with ox hides gaining Jd to Hid per lb, and bull hides selling up to Bid. Yearling hides from the same source advanced 2id to a top price of J5Jd. Ox hides from country butchers rose Id to Hid. While abattoir yearling hides sold at a top price of ttjd, an increase of id. Some calf-skins. bow-K, dropped |d to SOjd. Salted sheepskins showed a slight decline with seven price falls out of 19 classes offered. Sound shearlings dipped 3d to 5s a skin.
