Moorhouse Avenue
Sir,—lt is gratifying that the City Council is reconsidering the decision to remove trees from Rolleston avenue, and it is perhaps an appropriate moment, while the council is being treeminded. to ask it to go ahead with plane for planting and replacing trees wherever possible. Moorhouse avenue •
is under reconstruction by the National Roads Board, and the chairman of the reserves committee (Cr. P. J. Skellerup) has expressed his desire to beautify this area. This wide thoroughfare, of a commercial character, is quite unsuitable for flower beds, and they would be a waste of ratepayers’ money; but if the central strip were planted with fine trees (not flowering shrubs) I can foresee a beautiful drive through our city for the motorist of the future arriving via Blenheim road.—Yours, etc, K. G. NEILL. October 28, 1961.
